Sickle Cell Anemia is what I believe to be a CONGENIAL "dis-ease" caused by extremely elevated amounts of toxins in combination with bio-unavailable forms of essential minerals. Many people of color carry the Sickle Cell "trait", but when two parents create a child, there is a chance for that child to develop the full Sickle Cell condition if they inherit the SC trait from both parents. Why this disease mainly affects people of color is a mystery at this time, but from my experience, the condition is greatly suppressed and regulated by a full Nutritional Balancing Program. From the little research that we have done, I am quite convinced that most if not all Sickle Cell patients have extremely elevated levels of a toxic and bio-unavailable form of potassium in their tissues. They are often fast oxidizers, or fast metabolizers, but not in a healthy way.
There are many stimulant toxins such as cadmium, lead, aluminum, nickel, and other metals that cause extreme dysfunction of the adrenal glands and the entire endocrine system. Toxic forms of lead and other toxins disrupt the proper development and synthesis of the hemoglobin protein. The spleen is also greatly affected, causing extreme low efficiency of the organ. Insulin and blood sugar is also imbalanced because of certain toxin metals disruption of insulin production, causing the body to utilize more energy producing new insulin chemicals instead of recycling old insulin molecules, which is more efficient. Sickle Cell patients must always be aware of their sugar intake, and keep it to as close to zero as possible. Cooked vegetables with EVERY meal, are absolutely essential for people with this condition. Protein must also be eaten in the form of chicken, turkey, beef, lamb, sardines, eggs, bison, or deer. Red meat should only be eaten about 3-4 times per week, while the other protein sources can be eaten 2-3 times per day.
Thiocyanate is a nutrient found in the African Yam that has been greatly shown to help prevent the sickling formation of the cells. It is inexpensive, and can be cooked in a variety of ways. The nutrients in these foods are absolutely critical and cannot be replaced by pain killers, drugs, blood transfusions, etc. Blood transfusions themselves are very risky, and should only be a last resort. I would better suggest intravenous chelation therapy to remove certain heavy metals and toxins from the blood for a short period of time, such as during a Sickle Cell Crisis. A full Nutritional Balancing Program although, is not only a diet, but certain supplements are recommended to be taken every day, three times per day that are designed to remove toxins while stabilizing the metabolism, raising the energy of the body, and stabilizing mineral levels and ratios. Mineral ratios within the tissues of the body are very good indicators of the health of every system within the body, including the liver and other filtering/detoxification organs, adrenal and thyroid gland activity, which are important for regular and wholesome life, hormone production, and a myriad of other functions of the body.

Not only the diet and supplements, but the detoxification procedures are also very important.
